Facebook Page

Well, I think it's safe to say that this here blog is neglected.

Thing is, life is so fast and hectic (and I mean everybody's in general) that finding the time to write and read blogs is a bit tricky. I'm not writing the blog off totally. I expect I will blog from time to time but it won't be a regular occurrence.

If you'd like to make sure you keep up to date with all things Beads By Laura then your best bet is to look at my Facebook page. You don't need a Facebook account to view it and you'll find that there's a lot more happening over there than there is here.

Another great lesson day

Kathy's First Lampwork BeadsI'm really enjoying Glass Melting Wednesdays! Yesterday my student was Kathy who is a silversmith and she had never made a glass bead before yesterday. The photo above is of some of the excellent beads that Kathy created during her lesson. I'm showing you these ones in particular as they are good examples of what I like my students to achieve. The beads are even and round and they have the all-important neat and tidy, slightly dimpled area around the bead holes. Kathy turned the deep pink frit bead on the left into a fabulous chunky tab.

It looks like Kathy's well and truly caught the lampworking bug. After I emailed her the photos of her first beads she said :

"I had a fantastic time and am totally hooked! I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone."

All of my beadmaking lessons are now fully booked but I will let you know if there any cancellations.

Those are lovely beads Kathy, looks like you had a great day with Laura - and isn't is just such fun! I can't stop dreaming beads after my lesson. Now I just need to get some kit together to have a go on my own.

I did try warning Joy that it would be totally addictive, I suppose it's better than dreaming about bits of wire though :)

Kathy - fabulous beads! Laura - you are an excellent teacher! I wish my very first beads were that pretty and usable. I learned some fun lessons from my first awful beads - maybe even use some ideas from them. But, I would have been thrilled to have such excellent quality my first time! Well done.

They're gorgeous - really uniform (I'm scared mine will end up looking like Cadbury's mis-shapes!!) and each bead design is really different from the others too. Well done Kathy.
